Getting shiny, healthy hair is not that difficult; there are many home grown beauty methods that will give you the head of hair you see on the models on Television. Since they are made of everyday items, they do not cost a bomb like some hair care beauty products.

On the other hand, they produce as good result as such products and even better in dome cases. One such ancient beauty tips is using vinegar for hair shine and bounce. Vinegar is being made since 3000 BC and has been mentioned in Bible. Lemon juice and vinegar has always been used for hair shine till commercial shampoos and other products flooded the market. Vinegar for hair care not only improves the shine but also removes the impurities that are present in the hair. However, the vinegar has to be mixed with distilled water. Tap water should never be used because of the minerals present in it. So instead of removing impurities from hair, such a concoction will accumulate impurities on the hair making it dull.

Benefits

There are many benefit of using vinegar for hair care. First of all, the acid in it help to neutralize the alkaline build up that often happens. This build up is caused by the alkali present in the conditioners and soaps we use to clean our hair. If your hair has alkali pH, it will become tangled and frizzy. Moreover, if the water in your area is hard water, it will increase this level of alkalinity. Furthermore, hair treatments like perm or bleaching also causes alkali build up which can make this condition worse. When such shampoos dry up your scalp, it reacts by producing more grease! The net result is a hair that is dull, limp and greasy. When you use the vinegar rinse, the acidic pH of it cuts through this grease and neutralize the alkaline pH. The result is a better scalp that is less prone to itchy and dandruff prone scalp.

Recipes

To use, dilute the vinegar with the same amount of distilled water. If vinegar is not present, the recipe of vinegar for hair care can be replaced with essential lemon oil. You can also make your own shampoo, as per the instruction of medicine guru Victoria Abera which calls for mixing 1 tsp vinegar, 1 egg, 1 tbsp lemon juice and 1 oz. of olive oil. If you are looking for rinse that can be used before and after shampoo, use 2 tsp of vinegar with 1 cup of distilled water that has been slightly warmed. Pour this mixture over your hair and wrap it with towel. Keep the towel for 15 minutes before rinsing clean with water.

Alternative Uses

There are other uses of vinegar apart from vinegar for hair care. You can blend cider vinegar with distilled water and use it as a toner and cleanser. If you have blemishes, add tea tree oil to it to make it better.
